The Torch Burns Bright

It is on this day that I announce my official resignation from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the People’s Imperial Confederation, effective immediately.

My departure from the Confederation leadership is bittersweet, but has been a long time coming. I will not be retiring and I will remain in my governmental First Secretary position and continue to be an active figure in this community and its future, but my time in as your leader must unfortunately come to an end once more.

The reasons for my departure are numerous. Though my personal well-being amidst schooling and mental health have been a concern of mine, my primary motivator has been a change of perspective. I do not feel I have achievement everything I’ve wanted to here, there are still trophies to win and armies to conquer. Getting Major army status has been a dream of ours for a long time, and my successors will definitely be gunning to reach that milestone. Though there is more work to do, it has become apparent to me that my presence in the leadership needs to come to an end.

My fellow leaders have done an excellent job in ensuring that the Confederation has had an extensive impact since we revived in February of 2023. PIC has been the premier Small/Medium army for years at this point, yet our work has scarcely been recognised. My time as a member of the Legends Committee during the 2023 Army Legend Inductions has made it apparent that certain individuals will do everything in their power to undercut the achievements and impact of my colleagues. In addition, it seems as though PIC has become the “Sidie army” in the eyes of many, as I’ve already achieved the status of Small/Medium legend for my previous contributions in the early 2010’s. Though I knew they were wrong, I had to see my co-leaders cut down and diminished by the Legends Committee. Ironically, despite my best intentions, it seems as though I have overshadowed my compatriots. I can’t let that happen anymore.

An unfortunate truth for me is that, as I’ve already had such an extensive army career, I don’t have much to show for my time here. I’ve accomplished much of what my comrades yearn for, and so my solace and main motivator has been seeing this wonderful community grow. From a dream envisioned by Proditor/David and I, all the way to the Small/Medium powerhouse standing before you today, my true accomplishment was seeing through the creation and development of the beloved community that many of you call home today.

I do not want today to be a sad day for our army. Rather, I hope the coming days are a time of celebration. The Confederation leadership will continue to prosper with such wonderful Commanders as Shallissa, Alucard and Sweater. With a stacked line-up of Leaders-in-Training, the future of this army remains bright. Major status will be achieved by the People’s Imperial Confederation sooner or later, and I will be there there as your biggest supporter. I am not retiring from the community just yet, so you won’t have to worry about missing my stupid memes. PIC will be sure to host a resignation party of some kind, but the details haven’t been sorted yet.

I will leave you all by publicising this screenshot, being the origin of the People’s Imperial Confederation name. I’ve heard people at different points in time question the name of our army, calling it nonsensical. To those people, I advise you read the Organising Principles of PIC as outlined by David. He was always more knowledgeable of the philosophy behind it than I was, but I can tell you what the People’s Imperial Confederation has meant to me.

The origin of the People’s Imperial Confederation name

Each word in our name has a reason, but we have always been an army for the People. I’ve been in many armies throughout the past decade, with some prioritising the interest and well-being of troops more than others. They are more than troops or tools to seize your ambitions for glory, they are people with their own thoughts, interests and needs. The first letter of our acronym represents our mission to ensure that all members are considered equal, and to preserve their humanity as more than mere cogs in a machine. We must always express compassion and understanding, even to those who have wronged us and are willing to change for the better. The word Imperial represents the drive to conquer and battle others, such as those who infringe on our values or mere rivals. Additionally, it constitutes our hope to expand to additional games, CPPS’s and communities. Lastly, we are a Confederation of many individuals throughout the globe, forming a unique process of government that prioritises the appropriate distribution of power and the autonomy of individuals. This is what it means, in my eyes, to be the People’s Imperial Confederation.

It has been a pleasure to act as your Commander-in-Chief for the past four years. Until next time,
